How Songs Unlock in In Falsus, Frame by Frame

STORY DIVES · TIMELINE · MUSIC PLAY · FORBIDDEN

In Falsus launched on September 9, 2026 with 70 songs — over 40 of them originals — charted at levels 1–11 across the MIN, EVO, ULT and FBD tiers. Songs are not bought or code-unlocked: they surface as you play the story, stay replayable from the Timeline and the hub's Music Play menu, and grow new highest-level challenges as you clear them. Every step below is a verified frame from launch-week footage.

Quick Takeaways

  • Songs arrive through the story: encounters introduce them, and the "Timeline Unlocked" dialog marks where replayable story entries begin.
  • Every song carries a difficulty ladder — Latent Duality shows 4 / 7 / 11, With Truth shows 1 / 4 / 8 / 10 — and a cleared chart can extend it.
  • Clearing the song and winning the encounter are separate: a DIVE CLEARED rank A can still end in ENCOUNTER FAILED when the card loadout is too weak.
  • FORBIDDEN opens the same way: after a clear, a "New Difficulty Unlocked" banner announces that songs can now be challenged on FORBIDDEN LV 11.

Source Footage

Every frame in this guide comes from one video: Flaw D.’s launch-day walkthrough “In Falsus Is out today! Unlocking all songs”, recorded on the full game the day after release. Each figure deep-links to the exact second it was taken from. The streamer’s facecam has been cropped out of every export.

Fact discipline: where the footage does not show a rule, we say so instead of guessing. A widely shared first-impressions video of the demo’s five-song library circulates alongside full-game clips — it predates the September 9 release, so nothing on this page is sourced from it.

Start: Your First Song Is a Story Encounter

CONNECT · LOADOUT · PLAY

You do not pick songs from a list at the start — you meet them. Story chapters funnel you into encounters: a CONNECT screen compares your five-card loadout against the opponent’s power, and PLAY starts the dive. The song plays; the story continues around it.

  1. 1

Meet songs where the story meets you

The video opens exactly where a new player lands: a CONNECT loadout screen for a story encounter, five card slots facing a 5,000 vs 4,000 power check. This fight — not a song list — is how In Falsus hands you your first tracks.

Every Song Is a Difficulty Ladder

MIN · EVO · ULT · FBD

SELECT DIFFICULTY on any story song and you get its ladder — the chart levels currently open on that track, running 1–11 across the four tiers. A fresh story song shows only the rungs you have earned so far, and the ladder grows as you clear.

  1. 2

Read the ladder before you pick

Latent Duality’s panel lists chart levels 4, 7 and 11 — three rungs, one song. The highlighted rung is where your selection sits; nothing says you must take the top. Early in the story, ladders are short by design.

  2. 3

Confirm the chart on the song card

Committing flashes the song card: level 7, EVOLVED, on Latent Duality by Palme. That card is the last screen before the dive starts — the level shown there is the chart you will play.

Clearing the Song ≠ Winning the Encounter

DIVE CLEARED · ENCOUNTER RESULT

In Falsus grades a dive twice. The rhythm run has its own result — rank, judgements, DIVE CLEARED — while the encounter has a separate outcome decided by card damage. The footage is blunt about the difference: a rank-A clear can still lose the fight.

  1. 4

Know what a cleared dive looks like

FO CHA0S ends at rank A: 893 EXACT, 88 shiny EXACT, 57 NEAR, 47 BREAK and DIVE CLEARED across the line. This is the rhythm half of the verdict — it is about your hands, and it is what drives chart progress forward.

  2. 5

Read the failure that isn’t a fail

Later, With Truth posts 094’808’272 and DIVE CLEARED — while the encounter reads FAILED. The toast explains it: your current Card Loadout is not strong enough to defeat this Reflection Encounter; craft stronger cards. The song was cleared; the deck lost. Nothing about the song locks back up.

DIVE CLEARED, encounter FAILED: craft stronger cards, keep the song. · Footage: Flaw D.
  3. 6

Replay the fight from the Dive Overview

The Dive Overview plots your HP line against the opponent’s across the whole song, phase by phase — the video opens it straight from a FAILED result to find where the damage stalled. The graph points at which phase to strengthen, not at whether to replay the song.

Crafting Gates Encounters, Not Songs

MASTERY CHALLENGES · CARDS

When a wall appears, the game points at your cards, never at a song lock. Midway through the footage, crafting itself levels up: Mastery Challenges arrive, completed challenges reshape recipes, and the Iota budget behind your cards grows.

  1. 7

Catch the unlock toast in the hub

A hub toast announces it: Mastery Challenges have been unlocked in Crafting — navigate to Crafting to try this now. It appears on its own as the story advances: another system settling into place around the songs you already have.

  2. 8

    Turn challenges into crafting headroom

Completing one flashes Mastery Challenge Complete over the recipe, and the reward line lands as a crafting skill that raises how much Iota Nia can use when crafting. More Iota budget means stronger cards — exactly what the FAILED encounter above was asking for.

The Timeline: Where Songs Stay Reachable

ARCS · MEMORY ENTRIES · REMEMBRANCE

Clearing a chapter does not shelve its songs. The Timeline collects every story beat as day-by-day nodes across the arcs — the community wiki names them Arc 1: The First Lie, Arc 2: A Past Best Untold and Arc 2.5: Every Moment — and any memory entry can be replayed as a song.

  1. 9

    Watch the Timeline itself unlock

After an early chapter, a dialog confirms it: Timeline Unlocked — Story’s Timeline is now available. From this point, every song the story has introduced has a fixed address you can return to.

  2. 10

Read a timeline like a save file

Arc 1: The First Lie lays out as four character lanes — Nia, Mei, Ayame, Iris — with numbered day nodes sliding toward the chapter’s final days. Each node is a memory; memories hide the story’s song encounters.

  3. 11

Remembrance adds dives beyond the story

Progress also drops new modes into the same flow: a Remembrance Unlocked card introduces Old Friends as a NEW dive, with its Iota drop pool and trait slots listed on the card itself. Remembrance dives are where crafting material comes from — songs again, in a different coat.

  4. 12

Challenge any memory you have cleared

Arc 2: A Past Best Untold opens its own timeline, and selecting a memory entry brings up its card with a START button — the replay door. Early on, this is the closest thing In Falsus has to a free-play list: the story is the menu.

Music Play, and the Road to FORBIDDEN

SELECT SONG · NEW DIFFICULTY · FBD

The hub’s MUSIC PLAY panel is where unlock progress becomes visible: a SELECT SONG shortcut with your ULTIMATE clear counters on it. And when a ladder grows, the game says so out loud.

  1. 13

Find your counters in Music Play

The hub menu points at MUSIC PLAY — SELECT SONG — with an ULTIMATE card showing EX COUNT 1/18 and CLEAR COUNT 10/18 at this point in the run. Eighteen ULT charts existed for this player mid-story; those counters are the cleanest readout of cleared songs.

  2. 14

    FORBIDDEN announces itself

Right after the With Truth clear, a red banner: New Difficulty Unlocked — songs can now be challenged on FORBIDDEN LV 11. That is the FBD tier arriving: level 11 charts, the top of the 1–11 range, unlocked by playing rather than by menus.

  3. 15

    See the ladder grow

With Truth’s SELECT DIFFICULTY now lists 1 / 4 / 8 / 10 — four rungs where most story songs show three, with the newly opened top levels highlighted. Ladders differ per song; the level you cleared is the one that stretched it.

  4. 16

Take the new rung straight into a dive

One screen later the card confirms the pick: level 8, ULTIMATE, on With Truth by ARForest feat. nayuta. New unlock, next dive, no detour — this loop of clear, banner, taller ladder, dive again is how a song collection levels up in In Falsus.

FAQ

What the footage actually shows about unlocking songs

Do songs unlock through story progression?

Yes — that is the primary path shown in the footage. Story chapters introduce songs as encounters, a "Timeline Unlocked" dialog marks the point where they become replayable, and the Arc 1 / Arc 2 timelines list every memory entry with a START button for challenging its song again. Songs are not offered as an open list at the start; the story hands them out.

How do you unlock higher difficulties on a song?

Each song carries a small ladder of chart levels — Latent Duality shows 4 / 7 / 11 and With Truth shows 1 / 4 / 8 / 10 in the footage — and cleared charts extend it: after one clear, a "New Difficulty Unlocked" banner announced that songs can now be challenged on FORBIDDEN LV 11, and With Truth’s ladder reappeared with two highlighted top levels. Exact per-tier requirements beyond what these frames show are still being verified.

How do you unlock FBD in In Falsus?

FBD is the FORBIDDEN tier — the level 11 charts at the top of the 1–11 range. In the footage it arrives as an announcement rather than a menu option: following a cleared dive, a "New Difficulty Unlocked" banner stated that songs can now be challenged on FORBIDDEN LV 11. Whether every FBD chart opens on that same trigger or per song is being verified against the live game.

Can you clear a song and still fail — and do you keep the song?

Both happen, and yes, the song stays. A dive can end DIVE CLEARED with an A rank while the encounter itself reads FAILED because the card loadout lacked damage; the game’s own toast says to craft stronger cards rather than re-test the song. The Dive Overview then plots the HP timeline so you can see exactly which phase fell short.

How many songs are there to unlock?

The full game launched on September 9, 2026 with 70 songs — more than 40 of them originals — charted at levels 1–11 across MIN, EVO, ULT and FBD. The demo’s six-track library was delisted at launch, so the 70-song pool is what new players unlock into. Track-by-track data lives in our song catalog.
