In Falsus Story Walkthrough
SCENARIO MODE → TIMELINE → ARC 1 // DEMO v0.3.x
In Falsus is half visual novel, half rhythm game — this walkthrough covers the story half. First a spoiler-free tour of how Scenario mode, the Timeline and story unlocks work; then, behind a clear warning, a scene-by-scene look at the demo's Arc 1: The First Lie.
TL;DR
- ▸Story scenes are visual-novel style: click to advance, with back, auto-play, fast-forward and log buttons in the top-right corner — nothing story-related is missable.
- ▸The first choice you're offered — Prioritize Scenario or Challenge Rhythm Game — only affects the initial tutorial; it locks nothing.
- ▸The Scenario Timeline organizes the story by month, day and time of day, with one color-coded line per character; finished scenes can be re-read at any time.
- ▸Story progress unlocks songs, cards and Encounters — in the demo, Arc 1 ends by unlocking 'Deep Into The Vibe' and a card battle against the Thief.
SPOILER POLICY
Everything through the 'How the Scenario works' section is spoiler-free — mechanics only. The Arc 1 section at the bottom shows real demo scenes (v0.3.x) with light story spoilers, and a warning sits right before it starts. This page covers only what the current demo shows on screen — nothing here comes from datamining or the full release.
SOURCE FOOTAGE
Screenshots come from two full playthroughs: iami's clean no-commentary run (used for the prologue and the priority choice) and TrappyTheDemon's demo v0.3 scenario run (used for the Timeline and Arc 1). Every image deep-links to the exact timestamp it was captured from.
How the Scenario works
SPOILER-FREE // MECHANICSThe Scenario is In Falsus's story mode, and the v0.3 demo update added a fresh slice of it: new Scenario content, a trial of the Card Integration system, and an additional unlockable song. Here is the whole loop, mechanics only.

- 1
Read (or skip) the opening narration
The game opens on black with a narrator's lines — "This is it. Let her hear it: / A requiem for a world bound by 'truth'." Story scenes play like a visual novel: text types out and advances on click. If you're here for the charts, every scene can be fast-forwarded and re-read later.

Choose Scenario-first or Rhythm-first
Early on, the game asks you to pick between "Prioritize Scenario" and "Challenge Rhythm Game". The dialog states outright that the game can be progressed at any difficulty level and that this option only affects the initial tutorial — it does not limit your game experience. Pick whichever matches your mood; nothing is locked behind either answer.

This choice shapes the tutorial only — it locks nothing. · Footage: iami ↗ - 3
Learn the ADV controls
Story scenes keep four buttons in the top-right corner: step back, auto-play, fast-forward and the backlog log. The backlog is the one to remember — it replays any line you clicked past too fast, which matters in a game where names and dates pile up quickly.

Enter the Scenario from the Hub
The Hub's SCENARIO panel shows your current position — arc number and name, the point-of-view character, and the in-world date down to the time of day — with a VIEW TIMELINE button. After the v0.3 update a tooltip points you there: "Continue your journey by visiting the Scenario Timeline."

Read the Timeline tutorial
The game introduces the Timeline in its own words: "This is the Timeline where the Scenario can be read. Previously read scenes can be re-read at any time." and "Navigate through each character's entries and uncover the interconnecting narrative of In Falsus." Re-reading is free and unlimited.

Re-reading finished scenes is free and unlimited. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 6
Read the Timeline itself
The Timeline lays the story out as a chart: a month selector on the left, a day ruler across the top, and one colored horizontal line per character with their portrait. Each node is a scene, stamped with its day and time of day — Morning, Noon or Afternoon. Padlocked nodes are not available yet (in the demo they read 'Not available in demo version'), and available scenes carry an UNREAD tag until you finish them.

Select a node to play the scene
Click a node on a character's line — here, the 8/28 Noon scene on the green line — to view its details and start reading. Scenes play in the visual-novel format from step 1, and once finished they stay on the Timeline for re-reading.

Arc 1: The First Lie (demo spoilers)
SPOILERS // DEMO v0.3.xFrom here on, this page shows real Arc 1 scenes from the demo. Spoilers stay light — who appears and what a scene looks like, not plot resolutions — but stop here if you'd rather go in blind. The demo's Arc 1 interleaves two point-of-view threads, Mei's classroom storyline and Iris's alley confrontation, and ends with a song unlock and an Encounter.

Mei's classroom (POV thread 1)
Arc 1 opens inside Mei's head — literally: you read her first-person inner thoughts ("I look at my teacher.") rather than an omniscient narrator. Each scene belongs to one character's point of view, and the Timeline's per-character lines are what keep the threads straight.

Each scene is one character's first-person POV. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 9
Meeting Nia
Mei's thread soon crosses with Nia's. Dialogue scenes show both characters on screen under the city skyline, with a color-coded nameplate on the current speaker — pink for Nia here. The stammer in her first line ("Y-You're li...listening to the") tells you who is nervous before any plot point does.

Color-coded nameplates mark the current speaker. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 10
Iris's alley confrontation (POV thread 2)
The second thread follows Iris, and it is a different register entirely: a shakedown under the expressway that she narrates in clipped first person — "My phone hits him, and he stumbles. Something clatters to the ground—a knife." The demo intercuts the two threads day by day on the Timeline.

The second POV thread is a different register entirely. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 11
The shatter cutscene
Iris's thread peaks in a wordless special cutscene: the world fracturing into a tunnel of red shards. It arrives with no dialogue at all — the ADV text box disappears and the CG does the talking. What it means is exactly the kind of question you expect the full story to tackle.

A wordless CG — the text box disappears entirely. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 12
Story progress unlocks a song
Finish the Arc 1 sequence and the scenario pays out in gameplay: the song "Deep Into The Vibe" by rejection unlocks straight from the story, revealed with its jacket art and three difficulty tiers — 3, 6 and 10. The LOADOUT button leads directly into the fight the scene has been building toward.

Finishing the Arc 1 sequence unlocks the song outright. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗ - 13
Equip cards at Loadout Select
Before the Encounter, the game runs its Loadout Select tutorial: "New Cards are unlocked by progressing through the Scenario. Later, you will also unlock the ability to improve existing Cards." You equip two cards by dragging them into slots, and the screen compares your total Power and Defense against the opponent's — Iris versus the Thief.

Fight the story Encounter
The Encounter itself is a rhythm battle, and the tutorial spells out the stakes: EXACTs deal standard damage, NEARs deal half, and BREAKs deal none while letting the opponent land a 5x Critical Hit. You play the chart over the course of the song and your accuracy is the attack roll — story, cards and charts all cash out on the same screen.

Your note accuracy is the attack roll in an Encounter. · Footage: TrappyTheDemon ↗
FAQ
STORY MODE QUESTIONSIs the In Falsus story skippable?
Yes. Every scene has back, auto-play, fast-forward and log buttons in the top-right corner, and the Scenario Timeline lets you re-read any finished scene at any time. Skipping costs nothing and misses nothing permanently.
Does choosing 'Prioritize Scenario' or 'Challenge Rhythm Game' matter?
Only for the tutorial. The choice dialog says the game can be progressed at any difficulty level and that the option does not limit your game experience — it simply decides whether the story or the rhythm game is introduced first.
How much story is in the In Falsus demo?
The v0.3 demo includes the prologue and Arc 1: The First Lie, laid out on the Timeline across month 8, days 27–28, from two characters' points of view. Later nodes on the Timeline are padlocked and marked as not available in the demo version.
Does the story unlock anything gameplay-side?
Yes. Progressing the Scenario unlocks songs and cards — in the demo, finishing the Arc 1 sequence unlocks 'Deep Into The Vibe' by rejection and leads straight into a card-battle Encounter against the Thief.
