How the solver works
Every Blueprint is a hex grid of colored Zones, blank safe tiles and dark unsafe tiles. A Zone only contributes its base Power and Defense while at least one Iota sits on it, and some Zones also open Trait Slots. The solver walks your inventory sorted by Potency (highest first) and stacks pieces onto the highest-value Zones, respecting the 3-per-tile stack rule and keeping one connected cluster on safe ground.
The final output follows the confirmed formula: the sum of all filled Zones' Power and Defense is multiplied by your average Potency divided by 100, then by the penalty multiplier. The penalty ladder is strict — zero penalties pays 100%, one penalty drops you to 89%, two to 56%, and three or more zeroes the board out. A Falsehood (a cluster touching no safe tile) is an infinite penalty on its own.
The five penalties the solver watches for are Overload (more Iota than the Blueprint's Iota Limit), Out of Bounds (a piece on an unsafe tile), Overlap (breaking the stack rule), Disconnect (separate clusters) and Falsehood. Because the heuristic always prefers legal placements, penalties usually only appear when your inventory simply cannot fit — that is your cue to trim low-Potency pieces.
Board layouts, Zone values and Iota Limits shown here are prototype placeholders invented for planning purposes; the five Blueprint identities (Nia Cana's Path to Reality, Mei Alder's 4AM, Ayame Takatsuki's A Warm Gaze Seeking Others, Iris Leal's Lost Garden of Bonds and Story Étienne's First Drop of Abyss) are confirmed. Expect every number to be rebalanced when In Falsus releases.
How to use the Blueprint Solver
- 01Select Blueprint — pick one of the five named Blueprints; its hex board, Zone stats and Iota Limit load automatically.
- 02Build your Iota inventory — add the Iota you own by color, shape and Potency, and toggle any piece off to compare the output.
- 03Run the placement — the solver stacks pieces onto the highest-value Zones, highest Potency first, respecting the 3-per-tile stack rule and keeping one connected cluster on safe tiles.
- 04Check the output — read final Power and Defense, the average-Potency multiplier and the penalty report, then trim low-Potency pieces until the board is penalty-free.

What are Blueprint penalties in In Falsus?
A Blueprint penalty fires when Iota placement breaks a board rule, and each one shrinks your final stats: the multiplier ladder pays 100% at zero penalties, 89% with one, 56% with two and 0% with three or more. The five penalties are Overload (placed Iota exceed the Blueprint's Iota Limit), Out of Bounds (an Iota on an unsafe dark tile), Overlap (more than 3 Iota stacked on one tile), Disconnect (Iota form separate clusters) and Falsehood (a cluster touches no safe tile — an infinite penalty on its own). Final Power and Defense equal the sum of all filled Zones' stats, multiplied by average Potency / 100 and by the penalty multiplier, so the solver always aims for a zero-penalty board.
